Happy Turkey Day!

I’ve been contemplating getting a new vehicle, but not sure I’d go as extreme to drive a “shoe car”.?  In honor of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade today, I thought these cars look like they? belonged in the parade line-up.

Winter Getaway

Now that the weather is getting cold (its cold, windy and raining in Chicago today….) and the holiday season is officially upon us, its time to plan our winter getaway wardrobe! This holiday I am going to San Diego- I heard its not actually that warm over there, but I have my fingers crossed anyway!

Now for wardrobe ideas. The first thing that pops up in mind- DRESSES. Cute summery dresses! And lucky for us, this is also the season for the Resort Collections, so there are plenty out there. Here are a few that I wish I had:

Bold dresses by Catherine Maladrino. As the guy at Saks told me- Catherine is smokin’ hot this season!

Bold PRINTED dresses. I love these ones from Karen Zambos (incidentally Karen Zambos seems to be the queen of winter getaway wear on shopbop- so check her out!).

Printed dresses by T Bag (i.e. above left). And to be VERY this season- ethnic inspired dresses like this one by Tibi (right).

Shiny dresses for the evenings. I am loving these two from Ingwa Melero (left) and Mara Hoffman (right). The colors are just so rich and bold and pretty!
Cropped jackets/cardis to keep warm. These two from Catherine Maladrino (left) and What comes around goes around (right) are so cute. The sparkly one is also great for adding a glam factor to your outfit.
Platform sandals to look pretty in and cute flats to walk around in. These two from Marc by Marc Jacobs (left) and Report Signature (right) are just the thing!

Have a nice holiday/thanksgiving everyone!

Urban Outfitters Does Dresses

I get in such a rut sometimes with shopping…scouting out the same places over and over and over again. I guess on the one hand, you could say that I just know what I like, but on the other, it wouldn’t hurt to venture out more now and again. Urban Outfitters is one of those shops with really cool stuff that I always manage to forget about. At the local mall, it’s kind of way down on one end away from all the other shops I frequent, so I never remember to hit it up. A shame because they have such pretty dresses this season:

Lux Divinity Dress Online Only! $98.00

Lux Black Tie Optional Dress $78.00

Lux Prismatic Dress Online Only! $58.00

Lux Striped Sweater Dress Online Only! $58.00

Kimchi & Blue Sweater Dress $68.00

Not for today!

Interesting that if I wore this outfit today, I’d be coming home a with a sodden mess around my waist because it is absolutely tipping it down outside right now.  My newfound love of rummaging in Paperchase fo outfit inspiration knows no bounds. I only wish I was this crafty when I was still at uni (oh 10% student discount…why did you have to leave me like that….?).  I picked up these handmade paper strips (they are ‘helpfully’ described as ‘Handmade in the World’ so I have no eloquent term for them…) for ??1.50 each and having road tested them as waist embellishment (with the aid of a skinny belt), I think they are sturdy enough to morph into skirt form so hopefully, once this god-awful weather is over, a delicate paper strand skirt can come out to play.

The multi strands of the strip bends into the shape of your body when you strap it in so you get this structural sort of pelmut shape.

A textural interest to an otherwise quite blah outfit (except for the see through t-shirt… !)…
