Dresses To Suit Your Problem Areas
Everyday many women struggle with their body shape and pull something to wear from their wardrobe that satisfies the best of a bad bunch criteria. It doesn’t have to be like this! Instead of hating your problem areas you simply have to dress for body shape instead of trying to change it. A few of the main problem areas are covered below.
Dress for body shape - big tummy
The main factor with a big tummy is the material choice. You obviously don’t want to highlight the area so avoiding clingy material, such as a Lycra or polyester, is your saviour.
A two-piece outfit instead of a dress can be a fab choice. A shirt or loose top matched with an A-line or pencil skirt, is a great combination for you.
Wrap dresses can be as tight or as loose-fitting as you want, therefore opting for a loose-fitting wrap that you can tie lightly around the area you want to hide ensuring the draping doesn’t cling is another great option.
A great choice is the low-waisted dress that focuses on the hips and skims over the tummy area cleverly disguising any bulges lurking underneath
Dress for body shape - bottom heavy
With bottom heavy problems you should avoid tight materials and anything that ends or emphasises your widest point. The aim is to balance out either the shoulders or the bottoms of your legs to counteract a bit of your width across the hips. When selecting dresses your focus should be on the neckline and what it can do for your shoulders.
Spaghetti straps won’t help you create the width you need on your shoulders for balance. What you need is a neckline that goes horizontally across the chest or collarbone which makes shoulders stand out.
If that’s not the neckline for you, then focus on minimizing your bottom half by finding a dress that skims your body from the waist down. It should be fitted at your narrowest point - either the waist or just under the bust - and then gently flare down from there.
Dress for body shape - small bust
Show skin where you can, such as shoulders, arms, legs or back, to highlight your best feature and draw attention away from your bust. Knowing that you’ve got your best feature on show will give your more confidence.
For the brave girl, you can go for a daring plunging neckline all the way to your navel and you know your small bust will stay in control with tape.
Be sure to avoid spaghetti straps, opt for a strong halter that emphasizes your magnificent shoulders, for example. Corset dresses that are boned give great shape if you want to boost a small bust. Additionally, dresses that have padding in the bust area are great if you want to give the illusion of a fuller bust.
Following the tips above will have you dressing for your body shape in no time.
